Gabriela Mistral is Chile's most famous poetess who won
the Nobel Prize for literature in 1947. She was born and
raised in the Elqui Valley, one of the most beautiful areas
of northern Chile. We see the valley as she describes it in
her poetry. In Vicuña where there is a replica of the house
where she was born as well as an interesting museum. We
visit her beloved Montegrande where she lived and where
she is now buried. Then we follow Gabriela throughout
Chile as described in her collection of poems "Poema de
Chile." We enjoy her description of places from the
northern desert to Punta Arenas on the Strait of Magellan.
You will enjoy Gabriela's magnificent poetry and the
beautiful places in Chile that she describes.
